1797–1861, Japanese  Utagawa Kuniyoshi (歌川国芳) was the son of a silk dyer named Yanagiya Kichiemon. When he was about 12 years of age, Kuniyoshi was accepted as a  Utagawa Kuniyoshi (?? ??, January 1, 1798[1] – April 14, 1861) was one of the last great masters of the Japanese ukiyo-e style of woodblock prints and painting. This sumptuously produced monograph showcases the work of Utagawa Kuniyoshi, one of the last great Japanese masters of ukiyo-e prints, illustrations, and  Feb 16, 2021 Kuniyoshi exhibition at the MAK. He was a member of the Utagawa school. The range of Kuniyoshi's subjects included many genres: landscapes, beautiful women, Kabuki actors, cats, and mythical animals.
