His theory of learning suggests that people learn within a social context, and that learning is facilitated through concepts such as modeling, observational learning and imitation. Bandura put forward “reciprocal determininsm” that holds the view that a person’s behavior, environment and personal qualities all reciprocally influence each others.

Learning theory

A theory which sets out to explain the learning process itself. This term is actually an umbrella term for smaller theories such as Hull's Mathematic Theory of Learning which looks at the basic assumptions of learning. Learning theory informs the application of instructional design through models. Although there are multiple theories of learning, there are three principle foundations that influence most instructional design models today. These learning strategies include: behaviorist learning theory, cognitivist learning theory, and constructivist learning Learning Theory #3 – Constructivism.

This section provides a brief introduction to each type of learning theory. The theories are treated in four parts: a short historical introduction, a discussion of the view of knowledge presupposed by the theory, an account of how the theory treats learning and student motivation, and, finally, an overview of some of the instructional methods promoted by the theory is presented.
